HELP Academy . Start here ..................... READING ON YOUR ATLAS You are reading this on an Atlas, through the Library. Turn the dial to move through pages. Press to open things. Hold the dial to go back. The reader remembers nothing. Paper does not either. Use your head or your notebook for where you were. ..................... HOW THE ACADEMY WORKS The Academy is badges, sorted into pathways. Shop first. Everything else after, in any order you like. Every badge is the same shape: 1. WHAT YOU GET tells you why this one is worth your time. 2. HOW WE DO IT HERE is the actual teaching. 3. CHECKPOINTS are the doing. Each one says what done looks like and how to get assessed. 4. WHEN IT GOES WRONG is the list of the usual troubles and what to do about each. 5. WHEN YOU PASS is what changes for you. Read the badge before the bench. Then bring the badge with you and work through the checkpoints at your own speed. Nobody is timing you. ..................... GETTING ASSESSED Assessment is showing, not telling. When a checkpoint says GET ASSESSED, find a staff member, or whoever the badge names, and show them. We are not looking for perfect. We are looking for you doing the thing, knowing why, and calling your own mistakes. Somebody who says this joint is not good enough, I am redoing it, is passing harder than somebody with a lucky first try. ..................... WHEN YOU ARE STUCK Stuck is normal here. It is in the glossary. 1. Try the WHEN IT GOES WRONG list on your badge first. 2. Say the problem out loud to the person next to you. What should happen, and what happens instead. Half the time the gap answers itself. 3. Still stuck is BLOCKED, and blocked is when you come find us. That is not failing. That is the system working. ..................... WORDS Every shop word lives in the GLOSSARY folder, alphabetical. If you hear a word that is not in there, tell us and we add it. ..................... ONE MORE THING The passport is yours. The badges are yours. The pace is yours. The only thing that is ours is the standard, and we do not move it. That is why passing means something.
