INSTALL·ATLAS  /  Relay

Flash the Atlas Relay firmware to a Heltec V3 or V4 right from your browser. It's stock Meshtastic with a custom Atlas face, fully reversible.

1 · Flash the device

Plug your Heltec V3 or V4 in with a data USB-C cable, then:

Your browser can't flash. Use desktop Chrome or Edge. Flashing must be served over https or localhost.

Choose the serial port that appears, then follow the on-screen prompts.

If the device isn't detected

Put the Heltec V3 or V4 into bootloader mode and try again:

  1. Hold BOOT
  2. Tap RST
  3. Release BOOT

(Or hold BOOT while plugging in USB.) A data cable is required, charge-only cables won't enumerate a port.

After flashing

The Relay boots with the Atlas face, joins the mesh on the Atlas channel, and is ready to pair with an Atlas handheld. Left alone, it's simply a Meshtastic node/repeater helping carry the local mesh.

Each Relay names itself like ATLAS Squall Keen 14 from a 400-word library, unique and easy to tell apart.

Revert to stock always available

You own the device. Reflash plain Meshtastic anytime at flasher.meshtastic.org → "Erase and Install".

This installs the Heltec V4 build (v1.2.46, current hardware) from /firmware/relay/atlas-relay-v4.factory.bin, a merged image written at offset 0x0. V3 and V4 are both ESP32-S3, so esp-web-tools can't tell them apart by chip; for a Heltec V3 board use the board picker on the Relay page instead. The firmware is a Meshtastic (GPLv3) build with the Atlas additions; source upstream at meshtastic/firmware.
